Isabel, Nonna Maria, Fernando And Pablo's Visit to New York
Last December 25, 2006, my sister Isabel Fuentes, our Mother Maria and her two sons, Fernando and Pablo paid us a visit. They stayed with us for 6 days. In that short span, we had a great time together. We visited our brother Filippo (Vittorio) and his wife Mirta and son Cristian. On Saturday we drove to NYC and had a great time visiting Central Park, Rockefeller Center. We had lunch at Lenny's Deli. I had a great Pastrami & Corned Beef sandwich. We then went down into the subway system and took the F train to 34th Street. We tried to get into the Empire State Bldg, but the wait was two hours once you got into the bldg and there was a long line outside of it. We decided to take a tour bus thanks to Pablo & Fernando's suggestion. At first the tour seemed interesting, the bus was a double decker and we did our best to get on the open second level. It didn't take long to feel the cold breeze. This was a two hour tour of Midtown and Downtown NYC. Less than one our into the tour and we were trying to find our way onto the sheltered lower level of the bus. Guess what? No one wanted to give up their comfortable and warm and cozy seat. We were stuck up on that second level throughout the entire ride and once the sun went down, we couldn't wait to get out of that bus. We had parked our car on 55th Street and once the bus reached 50th Street, we got out. We walked up towards 55th Street and found a Godiva Store on Lexington Ave were we managed to get sample hot chocolate drinks. We then walked over to a Au Bon Pan so that Olga could get her caffeine fix (well, we all did). After a nice cup of coffee and a croissant, we arrived at the garage and started our trip back to Islip.
On Sunday, Philip & Hope came to visit and we had a good time. Fern & Pablo clicked with Philip and they had a good time with our cat "Patches". Somehow I didn't get any pictures taken on my camera but Isabel got plenty on hers.
Well all good thing come to an end and this visit was over before you knew it. I love my sister for bringing my Mom to visit me, these are things that you never forget. I always love to see my sister and my nephews, I can never get enough of them and I hope they had a good time with us and look forward to seeing them again soon.
